Artspace Aotearoa is hosting a fundraising Pop-up, Born Slippy, with Denise Porter-Howland. The event launches in the gallery’s edition space on August 12.

Eleventeen Ceramics showcases Porter-Howland’s latest collection of hand-crafted ceramics, reflecting the artist's affinity with shoes. The ceramics set a scene for viewers to imprint their memory, feelings and interpretations of the shoes, as a means to unfolding and exposing emotions and the relationships attached to these objects. Scattered amongst banana skins, burnt-out cigarettes and other debris, Born Slippy features historical footwear classics like the Nike Jordan, the Martine-Rose Loafer, the Balenciaga Heeled Croc and the Margiela Tabi.

40% of the proceeds from the sale of these works will go to support Artspace Aotearoa.

Denise Porter-Howland is a multi-disciplinary artist working in Tāmaki Makaurau. She holds a BFA from Central St Martins. She launched Eleventeen Ceramics in 2018.
