Kiss Me Thru The Phone is a ten part discussion series that examines the political, socio-economic and colonial implications of COVID19. Hana Pera Aoake and Mya Cole intend to interrogate the biopolitical spheres in which power is mitigated under a state of emergency, by contextualising this pandemic as both a result of geopolitics and unregulated market capitalism. This series will engage in critical conversations with people who feel apathy towards teddy bears in windows and who share the wish that all golf courses on stolen land burn.
This investigation will include recorded and live korero with Samuel Te Kani (Ngāpuhi), Daniel John Corbet Sanders, Dusty Whistles, Sophie Yana Wilson (Ngāpuhi, Kāi Tahu, Samoa), Miriama Aoake (Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Mahuta, Tainui), Morgan Godfrey (Ngāti Awa ko Te Pahipoto te hapu, Samoa), Heidi Brickell (Ngāti Kahungunu, Rongomaiwahine, Ngāi Rangitāne, Ngāti Apakura), Anisha Sankar and The bad fiji gyals (Esha Pillay and Quishile Charan). These korero are centered around knowledge systems, expansive bodies, class, Māori leadership,sovereignty, the nuances of colonial histories and their intersection with market capitalism, criticality and ways of (re) imagining the world and what solidarity can look like.
