Nova Paul’s contribution to the Artspace Aotearoa editions is part of the Artspace Turns 21 print series from 2008.
Nova Paul is an artist of Te Uri Ro Roi and Te Parawhau /Ngā Puhi descent. Her 16mm filmmaking practice draws from early and experimental film histories and discourse. Paul’s work explores storytelling, and its role in combating “neo-liberal hegemonies” and considering the politics and poetics of place. She is interested in the agency of the image, investigating the capacity for it to determine its own cause.
